At LifeTether LLC ("LifeTether", "we", "us", or "our"), your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, store, use, and protect your information when you use our web application and services.

1. Information We Collect

When you register for and use the LifeTether application, we collect the following categories of information:

• Personal Identifiers: Information you voluntarily provide when registering, including your email address, chosen display name, and password authentication data.
• Sensitive App Data: Health, emotional, and behavioral data inputted into the application (such as daily check-ins, mood ratings, urge intensities, custom recovery trackers, and freeform journal entries).
• Device & Usage Data: Automatically collected information such as browser type, timezones, IP addresses, and encrypted Web Push subscription endpoints for the purpose of delivering notifications.

2. How We Process Your Information

We process your information exclusively to provide and improve our Services, including:

• Facilitating account creation, biometric passkey authentication, and session security.
• Displaying your personalized dashboard, recovery clock, and historical charts.
• Dispatching user-configured push notifications and daily reminders.
• Generating contextual, algorithmic, or AI-driven insights (only if you explicitly opt-in to AI data processing in your settings).

3. Data Security & Zero-Knowledge Vault

We implement robust organizational and technical processes to protect your personal information. By default, sensitive user inputs are encrypted at the application level before database insertion.

Advanced End-to-End (E2E) Encryption: Users have the option to enable our Zero-Knowledge Vault. If enabled, your sensitive data is encrypted locally on your device using a 12-word master recovery phrase. LifeTether cannot read, retrieve, or recover your E2E encrypted data without this phrase. If you lose your phrase, your data cannot be restored.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

LifeTether relies strictly on essential session management cookies (such as PHP's native session cookie) and secure local browser storage (such as localStorage) to maintain active login sessions, secure E2E Vault keys on your device, and save frontend UI preferences.

Strictly Necessary Exemption: Because these cookies and storage elements are exclusively required to provide the core authentication and security features you explicitly request, they are classified as strictly necessary. We do not use any third-party analytics, cross-site advertising, or behavioral tracking cookies. Consequently, no tracking consent banner is required.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose your information to trusted third-party service providers strictly to perform operational functions on our behalf (such as cloud hosting, secure transactional email delivery, and Web Push dispatch via Google/Apple). These providers are contractually bound to safeguard your data.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your geographic location (including the CCPA for US residents and the GDPR for EEA residents), you have the right to access, obtain a copy of, rectify, or erase your personal data. LifeTether provides built-in tools allowing you to export your data (CSV/JSON) or permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the settings dashboard at any time.

Our services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
